A note from Meghan

Why we’re hosting this event.

Thank you for considering supporting this special event and helping us honor my dad’s memory in a way that reflects how he lived: by bringing people together and helping others.

Hi There! My name is Meghan London and I’m reaching out to invite you to support an upcoming golf tournament being held in honor of my dad, Rocky Cotugno (opens his obituary in a new tab). He was a PGA golf professional for many years, and golf remained a meaningful part of his life. That history is another reason this charity tournament feels like the right way to honor his life and memory. He unexpectedly passed away on , and prior to his passing he had wishes of just getting to play a few more rounds of golf. He did not want any kind of funeral or service because that's the kind of guy he was. However, I want to honor his wish for more time on the greens by playing a round for him while raising money to donate to local organizations in our area, since giving and uplifting others was his specialty.

My dad was a proud member of our small but big Cape Coral community for more than 30 years. He built the home my little sister and I grew up in and as a roofing contractor and general contractor he helped build countless other homes and buildings throughout southwest Florida (& throughout the country). While he was a rough around the edges kind of guy, once you really knew him you knew he loved helping people and loved his family more than anything. He worked harder than anyone I've ever known throughout any and all setbacks he faced, all for his family.

While I have so many memories of being on the golf course with him and even playing in his all-men scramble at Royal Tee (now Cape Royal) quite a few times, what I remember most is how big his heart was. I lost count of the number of families my dad invited to stay in our home when they needed a safe place to stay or the number of people he helped fix broken things. He helped so many individuals get their name out when starting their own small business and really was a pro at relationship building, because he truly cared and wanted to see people be successful.

To celebrate his legacy, we are hosting a golf tournament at Cape Royal Golf Club on and we are seeking donations and hole sponsors to help make the event a success. Your support would not only help fund the tournament, but would also honor the spirit of generosity and community service that my dad lived by. All funds raised will be going to local organizations so we can give back to the city that my dad always loved giving back to. My mom is working on putting together a list of local non-profits she feels my dad would have loved to support, and we will share that list with all confirmed sponsors.
